If
you’ve found your way here, you probably already know
who I am and that I am a PhD
supervisor. This website is your gateway to discovering my academic
profile and, more importantly, to finding the key information you
need to take your first step towards the admission process at the
Doctoral School of
Exact Sciences and Natural Sciences, where I am an active
faculty member.
A PhD
is only the starting line of a research career. The doctoral diploma
is your ticket into the profession, opening doors to positions in
universities—both in Romania and abroad—or in research institutes.
What is science?
At
its heart, science is the
ability to push the boundaries of human knowledge—even if only by a
small step. It means forming hypotheses and proving them. A
researcher’s methods are their tools; the finished product is the
publication. A scientific paper only becomes “complete” once it has
been accepted by a peer-reviewed journal. These journals receive
manuscripts, send them to experts for review, and publish them as
formal scientific articles. The peer-review process is what sets
science apart from everything else: it is a rigorous check, carried
out by other specialists, to ensure the validity and originality of
your work. The reputation of a journal is often measured by how many
citations its articles receive over a certain period (usually the
last two years) compared to how many articles it has published.
Indexing in the Web
of Science™
Core Collection (Science Citation Index Expanded, Emerging Sources
Citation Index) is a mark of quality, ensuring the process is
followed to the highest standards. The platform also provides
scientometric indicators for both journals and individual
researchers through ResearcherID.
If you’re serious about a future
in research, I encourage you to start
with the Guide for Doctoral
Students
page—it’s designed to help you understand what lies ahead and how to
prepare for it.
